MG Majestor debuts as a bold, feature-packed full-size SUV

MG has officially revealed the new Majestor SUV in India after several previews and international showcases. This large, body-on-frame SUV will sit above the Gloster in MG’s lineup and is aimed at rivals like the Toyota Fortuner, while also competing with premium SUVs such as the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron.

Bookings for the MG Majestor are now open with a token amount of ₹41,000. The official price announcement is expected in April, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026.

Engine and Performance

The Majestor comes with a single engine option — a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 215 horsepower and 478Nm of torque. This is the same engine found in the higher variants of the MG Gloster. It is paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox from ZF.

Depending on the variant, buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and an on-demand four-wheel-drive system. The 4WD version includes MG’s terrain response system called M-Hub, offering multiple driving modes for different surfaces.

For serious off-road use, the Majestor also gets low-speed crawl control, a special low-range transfer case, and three locking differentials. MG claims the SUV can drive through water up to 810mm deep, making it highly capable on rough terrain.

Exterior Design

The Majestor’s design is based on the global Maxus D90 SUV, giving it a bold and strong road presence. It features a tall stance, large proportions, and a boxy rear design that enhances its tough SUV appeal.

Up front, the SUV gets a large Mosaic Matrix grille, unique LED daytime running lights, and a muscular bumper design. The flared wheel arches and body cladding further add to its rugged character.

Interior and Seating

Inside, the Majestor offers a spacious cabin thanks to its 2,950mm wheelbase, which also allows for a third row of seating. Buyers can choose between a 6-seater layout with captain seats in the middle row or a more practical 7-seater version with a bench seat.

The seats are covered in premium artificial leather with a dark, classy interior theme. The second-row seats can be folded and adjusted to make entry into the third row easier.

The cabin also includes plenty of storage spaces, charging ports for all rows, and strong grab handles that highlight the SUV’s tough personality. Compared to the Gloster, the dashboard design is refreshed with a more modern layout, piano-black finishes, and silver highlights.

With all three rows in place, boot space is 343 litres. Folding the third row increases capacity to 1,350 litres. A gesture-controlled powered tailgate makes loading luggage easier.

Features and Technology

The MG Majestor is packed with comfort and tech features. The front seats are electrically adjustable, ventilated, and even offer massage functions. The SUV also gets tri-zone climate control, so passengers in all rows can stay comfortable.

Other highlights include:

  • Twin-pane panoramic sunroof
  • Dual wireless phone chargers
  • Paddle shifters
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 12-speaker JBL sound system
  • 64-colour ambient lighting
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 12.3-inch digital driver display
  • MG i-Smart connected car technology

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Majestor comes with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). These include:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane departure warning and prevention
  • Blind spot monitoring

Standard safety features also include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, ISOFIX mounts, and a 360-degree camera system.
