Nissan has unveiled a challenger against the Hyundai Creta

Nissan has unveiled the name of its upcoming SUV, which is set to rival the popular Hyundai Creta. The new model is called the Nissan Tekton, a name derived from Greek. We can expect this new model to launch in India around mid-2026.

Exterior Design

Nissan's senior design director, Ken Lee, stated that the Tekton’s styling is heavily inspired by the large Nissan Patrol SUV, calling the Tekton a "baby Patrol."

  • Patrol Influence: The design features a tweaked version of the Patrol's imposing grille, along with C-shaped design elements and body lines that mimic the larger SUV.
  • Lighting: The LED headlights and taillights are striking, connecting across the width of the SUV and forming a C-shaped motif, another direct nod to the Patrol.
  • Other Details: The sculpted bonnet flows down to the grille, and the word "Tekton" is prominently placed on the nose. It gets flared wheel arches (like the smaller Magnite), dual-tone bumpers, and a sporty, upright tailgate with a roof-mounted spoiler.

Interior and Expected Engine

While the interior has only been teased, the dashboard will feature a premium, striking three-tone theme:

  • The layout uses soft-touch materials on the top surfaces, glossy black accents below, and a distinct copper-colored strip that stretches across the dashboard.

There is no official confirmation on the engine options yet, but the lineup is expected to be petrol-only. Since the Tekton shares its platform with the upcoming Renault Duster, the two vehicles will likely share their petrol engines. The SUV will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai for both the Indian market and for export.
